Next visit to Cap Haitien in less than 4 weeks

My fourth visit to Haiti since the earthquake is not far away. This time I will be travelling with my son Nic who is a 3rd year medical student at Otago in Dunedin: a father son trip so to speak. Nic has been working with me at Dunedin Hospital trying to learn some useful clinical skills mainly relating to Orthopaedic surgery: suturing, application of plasters, cannulation, interpretation of X-rays and how to glove and gown in theatre. He is very excited about going to Haiti and he will have a wonderful experience that's for sure.
Unfortunately nobody from Hearts and Hands for Haiti will be accompanying me and I will miss Robyn that's for sure!
Cherubin has been ringing me a couple of times over the last week but he doesn't realise that there is a time difference between Haiti and New Zealand and his last phone call was at 4:00 am. You would understand that the conversation was rather short but he basically told me that they don't have any implants at Justinien and asked me to bring plates, screws, rods, external fixators etc.
He also informed me that he has been appointed as consultant and of course he was very proud of that. Cherubin was a junior registrar at Justinien Hospital when I first visited in 2010.
Since my last visit I have been collecting equipment and I have accumulated quite a collection of implants some new and others vintage!
This time I have bought a big toolbox(see photo attached) for the transport and Nic has been cataloging and sorting the implants. I have also bought a new 'Renovator' from Mitre 10 (oscillating saw) for my friend Mamon to be used as a plater saw.
I have also been in touch with Dr Pierre Louis, Ogedad and Dr Martineau who is keen to come to NZ to work with me for 3 months at the end of next year. I will spend some time with Ogedad in Pignon and also Milot of course.
Well as I usually say 'Haiti here I come'!Well it should be 'here we come' as Nic is accompanying me.
